The Care Quality Commission (CQC), established in 2009 to regulate health and social care services in England, inspects residential homes.

The CQC regulates personal and nearby authority-run homes, GP surgical procedures, and hospitals. Its inspectors carry out both pre-introduced and surprise visits.

Care companies should be registered with the CQC to function and must satisfy safety and first-rate requirements to achieve this.

The CQC issued four rankings: outstanding, precise, calls for improvement, and inadequate. Care homes are given a typical rating, one for each inspection area of being safe, powerful, worrying, responsive, and well-led.

During an inspection, the CQC may also communicate to a team of workers and residents at a domestic and check that the building meets safety requirements, that medicines are stored properly, that information is updated, and that adequate personnel are present.

By regulation, care providers should display their CQC ratings.

Care providers must respond to regions of subject raised via the CQC and face observe-up visits to ensure improvements have been made.

An insufficient score and failure to enhance can cause the CQC to be seen correctly near a home down by canceling its registration.

The CQC can have difficulty with enforcement notices and drawing up motion plans to raise standards.

Warning notices also can be issued under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 if rules are breached.

Homes rated as inadequate may be placed in special measures, in which the CQC carefully supervises the care of humans and facilitates the house’s improvement within a set timescale.

In severe cases where humans have been harmed or put at risk, providers may be fined and prosecuted with the CQC aid.
