Nouveau Home and Interior Design, the co-proprietors, announced Thursday that they will close their doors in Mount Vernon at the end of the summer.

Co-owners Steve Appel and Lee Whitehead stated in an assertion that they plan to “search for a new area,” blaming the closure on “the upward push of online purchasing, competition from countrywide chains, an upcoming increase in the wholesale price of furnishings and predicted price lists.”

“It without a doubt has to do with human beings’ buying behavior,” Appel said in a cellphone interview. “With our hire expiring at the end of the summer season, we just took a long, difficult look at matters. I feel like this is a great time [to reinvent our business].”

The furnishings and interior layout store opened its doors in Mount Vernon after moving from Belvedere Square in February 2015. Noveau will focus on its interior design business going ahead, Appel stated.

“Over the years, Nouveau has developed to satisfy the desires of owners and businesses within the Baltimore area,” he said. “We look ahead to continuing to serve clients via our layout studio.”

The keep has a “the whole lot must pass” sale, which allows you to keep until August’s give-up.

“I want to speak to our clients and get feedback in the summer season. We’ll see where we pass from there,” Appel said.

Interior Decorating

No wonder humans often confuse Interior Decorating with Interior Design. I even had trouble locating a definition for interior decorating. Usually, it said, “See the layout indoors.”

Perhaps it’s excellent to understand indoor adorning because it exists, in contrast to indoor layout:

An interior decorator might select ground coverings based on the purchaser’s tastes and way of life. In contrast, the indoor designer would also take it a step and look at utilization, sound transference, flammability, etc.
An indoor decorator would pick out lights, while the interior fashion designer could plan for the region of lighting fixtures and ensure that it’s miles in compliance with construction and protection codes.
An interior decorator does now not want to have any formal education and work revel in, trying out, or licensing, while an interior designer does.

Home Staging

Home staging is the artwork and science of preparing a home on the market so that it appeals to the widest variety of customers so that you can sell quickly and for pinnacle dollars. The objective is to make the client capable of falling in love with the home, envisioning themselves residing there, and aspiring to the lifestyle the house portrays.

According to the Real Estate Staging Association’s Consumer’s Guide to Home Staging, it’s miles a “systematic and coordinated method in which information of actual property, home renovations, and creative layout ideas are carried out to attract a purchaser.”
